Today, 9 April 2015, the Philippines celebrates Araw ng Kagitingan. On this day, during World War II, the joint Filipino and US forces made its last stand in Bataan. The Philippines would commemorate April 9 as an annual holiday – Araw ng Kagitingan or Day of Valor, also known as the Bataan and Corregidor Day. On May 6, 1942, after months of heavy bombing, the little island of Corregidor surrendered.
We took a trip down this memory lane and posted the articles over at VisitPinas. If you are interested to visit Philippine historical places related to Araw ng Kagitingan, we suggest you read our post on Mt. Samat in Bataan, as well the directions in getting there. On the way to Mt. Samat, you may want to drop by Las Casas Filipinas de Acuzar.
